- WhatsApp beta does away with multiple rotate options
- Now WhatsApp beta offers a single rotate image option to achieve a similar result with multiple taps
WhatsApp has been spotted testing its new beta version v2.19.18 for Android users. As per a report by the popular blog, WABetaInfo which tracks the latest developments related to WhatsApp, the new features on the app include a revamped Shared Media menu which lists various new options. There are some more detailed changes to this Media share menu. Read ahead to know more about the latest WhatsApp Beta version v2.19.18 update.
New Menu in Media of Individual Chats and Groups
The first things which the users have spotted on the new WhatsApp version include the changes to the Media menu in individual chats or groups. When opened, the users will see new options in this menu along with a new “Set as” option listed here. This overflow menu will allow the users to set the particular media as their profile photo, group icon or wallpaper. Apart from this, there is now a single rotate option in the media menu. Majorly, this new update seems to be oriented towards simplifying the media menu. It is worth noting that only a few days ago WhatsApp was seen testing 21 new emoji icons in a different beta build. Before that, the instant messaging company had rolled out a group call shortcut option to the stable builds. However, WhatsApp has not yet revealed when it will start rolling out the update to the stable builds.
While taking a more in-depth look at the Media menu we see that it lists the options as ‘Show in Chat’, ‘Set as…’ and ‘Rotate’. The first option in this menu will allow the users to show where in the chat the opened media has been sent. The second ‘set as’ option in the menu will allow the users to use the picture for the profile, group icon, wallpaper or more. Lastly, instead of giving multiple rotate options to the users, now WhatsApp is offering a single rotate option for images.
WhatsApp Focuses on Simplifying Media Menu
To recall, in 2018, WhatsApp introduced numerous updates to both its Android and iOS versions. The Facebook-owned company rolled out the picture-in-picture mode, hinted towards a dark mode on the app among many other upgrades. Last year was a period of rapid change for WhatsApp, as the company rolled out these updates in quick iterations thus improving the experience for users week on week. This newly revamped menu on WhatsApp is a hint towards one of the first few updates for WhatsApp Android in 2019. However, we are still waiting for an official word from WhatsApp about when these features will be rolled out to a stable build of the app.
