Bharti Airtel Revises Rs 119 Prepaid Plan to Offer Lesser Data Benefit

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Airtel made this revision to match Vodafone's Rs 119 prepaid plan that was launched recently
  • The Rs 119 open market plan offers benefits for 14 days from the date of recharge
Telecom operator, Bharti Airtel, has been very harsh on its prepaid subscribers of late. The telecom service provider which removed talk time recharges and launched minimum recharge plans has now revised its Rs 119 prepaid plan to offer lesser data benefit. Earlier, Airtel removed the Rs 99 prepaid plan and hiked the price by Rs 20 to Rs 119. Now, to fall in-line with Vodafone, Airtel has reduced the data benefit by 1GB. To recall, Bharti Airtel used to offer 2GB of 2G/3G/4G data benefit with the Rs 119 plan along with unlimited voice calling and 300 SMSes for 28/14 days. But now, the same plan offers 1GB of data for the same 28/14 days validity. Very recently, Vodafone introduced a Rs 119 prepaid recharge which also provides 1GB of data benefit for 28 days.
Airtel Rs 119 Prepaid Recharge: Benefits and Details
First of all, do make a note that the Rs 119 prepaid recharge has been introduced as a segmented tariff plan in all the 22 telecom circles. According to the information we have, Airtel is offering two types of benefits- for some users- the Rs 119 prepaid recharge offers 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 300 SMSes for a period of 28 days. And for some users, the same plan provides 1GB of 4G/3G/2G data along with unlimited local, STD and national roaming calls, and 300 SMSes for 14 days. That being said, the open market plan is valid for 14 days, while select users get it for 28 days. Airtel prepaid users can check for the availability of this plan by heading over to the company’s website or My Airtel mobile app.
Basically, the validity and the data benefit differs from every user. The very minimum amount of Airtel prepaid customers are getting this plan for 28 days, while the open market benefits are valid for 14 days. As noted, users can recharge this new plan via My Airtel app or website. If they fall under the segmented offer, they’ll get the plan for 28 days, otherwise, they’ll have to settle down with 14 days validity.
Vodafone Launches Rs 119 Prepaid Plan
Vodafone India also introduced a prepaid plan of Rs 119 which is also valid for select users. The UK-based telco is providing 1GB of data, unlimited calling for a period of 28 days. That said, Vodafone launched the prepaid plan in only some circles and it comes with 28 days validity to every user in the circle. To match Vodafone, Airtel reduced the data benefit of Rs 119 plan by 1GB.
Airtel Rs 119 Prepaid Recharge Vs Jio Rs 99 Prepaid Plan
Airtel’s Rs 99 prepaid plan was introduced to take on Jio’s Rs 98 prepaid recharge. And the same continues with the Rs 119 plan, but the price has now been increased by Rs 20, which gives a clear advantage to Jio. More importantly, Airtel’s plan is a segmented one unlike Jio’s which is an open market plan. For the unaware, Jio is giving unlimited voice calls without any FUP limit, 2GB of 4G data and 300 SMSes valid for 28 days from the date of recharge.
