D2h Subscribers Will be Able to Enjoy Multiple Connections at Flat NCF of Rs 50

HIGHLIGHTS
  • D2h was one of the first ones to introduce the pricing list after the new Trai mandate
  • The NCF is paid to the DTH operator whereas the content charge is passed on to the channel owner
D2h was one of the first DTH operators in India to comply with the new Trai tariff mandate. Notably, the operator has been at the forefront of the entire transition from the old pricing regime to the new pricing regime. Now, D2h has also come up with its multi-TV policy as well. It is worth noting that although subscribers with single TV connection were given ample information and awareness about the pricing, the subscribers with multiple TV connections were left in a state of confusion which Trai realised later. The regulator then issued a notification directing the DTH providers to chart out an action plan for the subscribers with multiple connections. In case you own multiple connections of D2h at your home, we highly recommend that you read through this article in its entirety to understand the pricing which is being relayed by the operator.
Flat NCF of Rs 50 for Second D2h Connection
The new pricing regime says that for a single connection, subscribers will have to pay Network Capacity Fee of Rs 130 exclusive of taxes which will get them 100 SD channels or 50 HD channels. On top of this, the subscribers will have to pay the content charges of the pay channels or bouquet. Now for people who have multiple connections of D2h won’t have to pay just double the amount in case you are wondering. Instead of that D2h subscribers will only have to pay Rs 50 exclusive of taxes as flat NCF. D2h has also highlighted that subscribers won’t have to stick to the same channels as the parent connection, although it will be entirely possible for them to mirror their original subscription, they will have full flexibility of choosing channels for the second connection.
Multiple Connection NCF and Content Charges Details
D2h on its website has further noted that on top of the flat NCF fee of Rs 50, subscribers will have to pay the content charges of the channels or bouquet which they opt. So, in totality, besides the bill of their original connection, subscribers will have to pay a sum of Rs 50 plus the content charges of the channels as the bill for their secondary connection. It is worth noting that the flat NCF of Rs 50 remains in the hands of D2h, and the operator can decide about it, but, and they stay as it is. So out of the total payment, which the subscribers pay, the NCF is kept by D2h, whereas the content charge is passed on to the broadcaster or the channel owner.
Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV Yet to Reveal Multiple Connection Charges
Related to multiple connection news, other DTH service providers such as Tata Sky and Airtel Digital TV are yet to reveal the charges like D2h. Also, Dish TV and Sun Direct did not reveal the additional charges for multiple connection holders. Trai already confirmed that operators can waive off NCF charges on multiple connections, but it seems like the service providers will charge a little amount like D2h.
