- Vodafone takes on Reliance Jio's Rs 1,699 prepaid plan with the Rs 1,999 plan
- As of now, it's unknown when the Rs 1,999 plan will be available across the country
The trend of long-validity prepaid plans continue to grow in the industry as operators are coming out with new recharges every now and then. After Bharti Airtel which introduced a couple of long-validity prepaid plans of Rs 597 and Rs 998, Vodafone has brought a new recharge Rs 1,999 in Kerala circle. At the moment, the Rs 1,999 prepaid recharge is available for both Vodafone and Idea Cellular customers in Kerala circle, but it’s soon expected to go official in other circles too. When Vodafone launched the Rs 1,699 (earlier Rs 1,499) prepaid plan, it’s subscribers were disappointed as the telco offered just 1GB of data per day for 365 days as Jio is providing 1.5GB data with its Rs 1,699 plan. But to the joy of Vodafone customers, the telco has now launched a Rs 1,999 prepaid plan which ships with a total of 547.5GB data benefit which is 1.5GB data per day for one year.
Vodafone New 365 Days Validity Prepaid Plan for Rs 1,999
The first thing that subscribers should note about this newly launched Vodafone prepaid plan is that currently the offering is only limited to Kerala circle. The telecom operator has also not announced about its availability for customers in other circles. Also, it seems like the Rs 1,999 plan from Vodafone in Kerala is an open market one. However, there is a chance that it could also be soon rolled out as an open market plan across pan-India. When it comes to the benefits, the Rs 1,999 prepaid plan by Vodafone offers unlimited local, national and roaming calling to the subscribers. As for the data, the plan bundles 1.5GB 2G/3G/4G data per day for the users. Lastly, there is the added benefit of 100 SMS per day. The validity of this plan is 365 days.
To recall, Vodafone recently removed FUP limit on voice calling as the telco wants to offer truly unlimited voice calling benefit.
Vodafone Revises Price of 365 Days Validity Plan from Rs 1,499 to Rs 1,699
Subscribers of Vodafone should also keep in mind that only a few days back, the telecom operator had made a change in its year-long validity plan of Rs 1,499 and rereleased it with a new price tag. Vodafone announced that the plan which used to be available for Rs 1,499 would now be available for a slightly higher retail price of Rs 1,699. To recall, this is the same price at which many other prepaid plans retail with 365 days validity from different telcos. The company had added that for a few days, the Rs 1,499 and Rs 1,699 prepaid plans would be listed side by side in some regions.
In case you do not use mobile data that much, and you think that 1GB of data per day would be sufficient for your internet needs then you can also opt for the Rs 1,699 prepaid plan by Vodafone. On the other hand, for a Vodafone subscriber who would like to have a long-term solution for their data usage and calling needs, the newly launched Rs 1,999 prepaid plan seems to be a more appropriate choice.
Vodafone Rs 1,999 Plan vs Jio Rs 1,699 Prepaid Recharge
Reliance Jio started the trend of launching affordable yearly plans in the country. Last year, it brought the Rs 1,699 yearly plan which was followed by BSNL with a couple of similarly priced plans. Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel too joined the list by rolling out Rs 1,699 prepaid plans.
The Rs 1,699 prepaid plan from Jio comes with 1.5GB data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS per day for 365 days. On the other hand, Vodafone is also providing similar benefits by charging Rs 300 more and it’s applicable only in Kerala circle at the moment. So Jio clearly has the upper hand.
