Bharti Airtel Launches Rs 998 and Rs 597 Long-Validity Prepaid Plans

Telecom operator, Bharti Airtel, is upping the ante in the prepaid segment as the telco has now introduced three long-validity open market plans. We have recently reported Airtel’s Rs 1,699 yearly prepaid plan which is now an open market plan across all the circles. Alongside the Rs 1,699 yearly prepaid plan, Bharti Airtel also introduced a couple of long-validity prepaid plans- Rs 998 and Rs 597, offering benefits for 336 days and 168 days respectively. Notably, Airtel introduced these recharges as open market ones, meaning any Airtel prepaid customer can recharge them by heading over to the company’s website or mobile app. That said, both the Rs 998 and Rs 597 prepaid plans are aimed at heavy voice-calling users, and at the same time, they extend the account validity.

It also ships with 12GB of data for the entire validity period. Customers recharging with this prepaid plan will also get 300 SMSes every month and the SMS benefit will be renewed for every 28 days. This plan from Airtel is valid for 336 days from the date of recharge.

Moving onto the Rs 597 prepaid plan, Airtel used to offer this plan earlier as well, but it removed after the competition intensified in the industry. Now, it brought back the plan to take on state-run telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). It offers a user unlimited voice calling across the country without any FUP limit, 6GB of data for the entire validity period and 300 SMSes every month. The plan comes with a validity of 168 days from the date of recharge. Airtel users will also get access to Airtel TV app which is the company’s Live TV and content application.
Bharti Airtel Also Made Rs 1,699 Yearly Plan an Open Market One
Just a couple of days ago, we reported Airtel’s introduction of Rs 1,699 yearly prepaid plan. Airtel introduced this Rs 1,699 prepaid plan to take on Jio’s Rs 1,699 recharge and Vodafone Idea’s Rs 1,499 plan. This annual plan from Airtel comes with 1GB daily data benefit, unlimited voice calling without any FUP limit and 100 SMS per day for a period of 365 days. Notably, Airtel prepaid users recharging with this plan will also get free access to Airtel TV application.
In contrast, Reliance Jio is providing much better data benefit of 1.5GB data per day with its Rs 1,699 prepaid plan, while BSNL’s plan is currently shipping with 4.21GB data per day. Vodafone Idea, on the other hand, is also providing 1GB data per day like Airtel with the Rs 1,499 yearly plan, but it’s Rs 200 less than what Airtel is charging. Clearly, Jio and BSNL are offering a better yearly plan compared to what Airtel and Vodafone Idea are offering, but these plans from incumbents will attract a lot of users, especially in the current scenario where consumers are forced to recharge every 28 days.
